today i am announcing my retirement from reels. this is a day which has been a long time in the making, and it should come as no surprise that someone with my level of mental geniusness is retiring for reasons much more advanced and complex than the regular person’s complaints, such as wasted time spent on their phone (loser). i’d like to outline my reasons for this decision in the following text.
first (and this really pissed me off), i saw a grown ass dude crying about honda only selling hybrid accords and civics while discontinuing the non-hybrid versions of these cars. bruh you a grown ass man crying on the internet about a car brand releasing a vehicle which makes you spend less money on gas every month. there was really guys in this comment section backing him up, really disappointed that they could no longer spend an entire $22.50/ hour paycheck at a gas station every 2 weeks. what made it worse was that people were really on here glazing and going on about a 2.0 liter 6 cylinder civic being their dream car. are we serious right now? since you were a little kid you’ve dreamt about owning a god damn civic? or can you be honest with yourself and realize that you failing out of high school means you can’t afford to even dream about a more expensive car? nevertheless, people were on here talking about 2 versions of the same car as if the decision was between a brand new ferrari and a smart car from the first obama administration. to top it all off the dude at the end started complaining about honda redesigning the accord like it was the end of the world. granted, the redesign does look worse, but i can’t reiterate the point enough that this is an adult member of society with money in his bank to finance any car he wanted. if he didn’t like the look of the accord, why didn’t he use his chipotle paycheck to buy a different car at the toyota dealership down the block? why did i have to watch 90 seconds of a dude crashing out about a fuel efficient car as if a member of his family was just backdoored in front of him?
secondly, the distribution of hating which instagram reels comments follow is completely unfair. i’m not saying that the individual comments are unwarranted (they are unwarranted, but that’s not my point); rather, the videos which recieve the most hating are too concentrated with hating, but videos which are deserving of getting some pushback in comment sections completely lack said haters. i’d like to make clear that i’m not fond of lil twelve year old jhits in comment sections calling people names and making fun of people: ideally, we’d live in a world where people online would all be nice to each other. but since this isn’t the case, why does a little kid trying to make a video about the rise of german imperialism in the 1800s get people in his comments calling him slurs, but an unemployed dude reacting to a video while adding nothing to it and repeating everything that happens like an audio description get hundreds of thousands of likes and a bunch of people putting laughing emojis in the comments?
You know that video of the dude talking about a Heath bar? This dude’s reaction is how i feel when i see the most brazenly laborious-to-get-through hardest watch of a dude stressing out over a hydraulic press crushing some bs item as if he didn’t watch the exact same concept every other day for the past six years. get a job bruh.
lastly, i’ve been seeing too much hate towards okc and shai gilgeous-alexander, aka the best to ever touch the game of basketball. after just finishing watching game 1 of the 2025 nba finals i realized that as soon as i got on my phone in the morning i would be greeted with an instagram feed of the pacers clinching a 1 point victory over the thunder, despite the thunder being in the lead the entire game. the unfunny jokes and pacers fans glazing halliburton and calling shai a free throw merchant, as if they didn’t have to wake up living in the state of indiana, were enough to make me realize i never want to open instagram again.
with all that being said, i will be taking my talents elsewhere, specifically towards yachtclub quicks, which havent been invented yet but you should start seeing more of them in 2026.
